Bio

My name is Jonathan Wisman.

This is my first semester in the TRAIN program. I am currently in route to earning my AS in biological sciences and plan to continue on to a four year university to get a BS in neuroscience.

I am a nontraditional student as I recently enrolled in college at the age of 28. I struggled in my late teens and early twenties with a heroin addiction that prevented me from furthering my education after completing high school. After receiving treatment and finding freedom from addiction I went into management of large restaurants. It wasn't until covid hit when I had time to reevaluate what I wanted life to look like. This led me to Phoenix College.

I strive to learn as much as possible every day in my academic journey. I want to be an inspiration for those struggling in active addiction to show them there is a way out of that lifestyle and that it is never to late to make a pivot in life.

I love the research field as it is one of the most effective vehicles someone can use to make an impact on the world around them. I am excited to be able to blog about my research journey this semester and beyond.
